Gabe Hilfer started his career as DJ and college radio show host. From there, he went on to work at BMG Entertainment in New York, where he was involved in the early intersection of music and technology.
In time, his role at BMG transitioned into worldwide marketing, working on campaigns for artists as diverse as Christina Aguilera and The RZA. Gabe then took a leap into artist management, working with a variety of performers and producers, and becoming immersed in an entirely new facet of the entertainment industry. In 2004, Gabe joined Clear- songs and has since worked on over 20 feature films, as well as multiple television shows including Entourage, How To Make It In America and In Treatment. He has also worked with numerous advertising clients, helping develop distinct sonic identities for such brands as Microsoft Bing, Flip Video, and Merck Pharmaceuticals.
After graduating from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Creative Advertising, Alex added over 6 years of ad agency experience. His career began at Doe Anderson in Louisville, KY working on national and international brands such as Valvoline and Maker's Mark. He then moved to NYC, where he has spent the last 5 years as a content producer for Young & Rubicam. There, he was positioned on their flagship global account Colgate-Palmolive. Overseeing numerous TV productions domestic and international, he has worked on such notable brands as Colgate, Irish Spring, Men’s Speed Stick, Palmolive, and Campbell's.
Recognizing Alex's acumen for producing, and musical talents, Y&R utilized him as a hybrid music / content producer on all Colgate Palmolive brands. Having the marriage of those two passions resulted in a natural transition into his new role as Producer at MAS.
With accomplishments ranging from distinguished awards of excellence to pro bono productions that successfully raised necessary funding, James decided to step away from the ad agency world in 2011 to pursue new professional goals. James married his knowledge of strategic branding and production with his passion for music by partnering with music vets Gabe Hilfer and Jim Black to create MAS, a fully integrated one-stop-music-shop.
In his new role, James oversees new business development, strategic planning and execution of music, and TV production as it relates to sonic branding. James has spent his entire professional career developing solid connections with senior level producers, creative directors, editorial houses and music companies. His uncanny ability to identify emerging talent in the industry combined with his unsurpassed working relationships across the industry will ensure that MAS will represent and deliver only the best of what the music industry has to offer.
